Job Posting: Technical Designer (Contract, Full-time)

You are an expert with a passion for live event design and a track record of success in the event, attraction and entertainment worlds. You bring a demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, managing experience, production and operational details.  You know the latest trends in experience, media, digital, and engagement. You love sports and entertainment.


Reporting to the Creative Studio Manager, you will take responsibility for design details on a wide range of projects.  You will develop design drawings with notes and details that are complete and accurate, ensuring all aspects of the experience evolve according to the project’s design criteria. The position requires close collaboration with the project designer, project manager and other project team members to ensure project design aligns with budget and schedule, and provides creative solutions to achieve project goals. 


Your resume should include a minimum of 3 years work experience in an intermediate role, designing permanent and temporary installations, preferably in the experience industry - events, sports and entertainment.  You have a clear understanding of how design projects develop and evolve - from first sketch to install. 

  • a degree or diploma in Architectural Technology, Architecture, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Theatre Design or a related field
  • the tools of the trade – AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-up, Adobe Creative Cloud, hand sketching
  • collaborating with the broader project team – producers, architects, general contractors, specialty fabricators and other experts in the mix of a project
  • working knowledge of production and fabrication methods and materials, finishes and specifications for graphics, signage, millwork, specialty scenic, props and building interiors
  • detailed experience with understanding and application of operational considerations, crowd capacities and occupancy calculations, circulation planning, permit integration and building code applications
