Invictus Games Toronto 2017 Launch

His Royal Highness, Prince Harry, visited Toronto for the highly anticipated official launch of the Invictus Games Toronto 2017, set to take place September 26 - 30, 2017. Established by the Prince in 2014, the Invictus Games are the only international adaptive sports event for wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans.

The major press event began with an inspiring ceremony at the Fairmont Royal York with more than 600 invited guests in attendance, followed by a sledge hockey demonstration at Ryerson University's Mattamy Athletic Centre.  Working with the Invictus Games Toronto 2017 Organizing Committee, BaAM produced both the morning and afternoon portions of the press event.

The Fairmont Royal York ceremony featured Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,  Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Elizabeth Dowdeswell and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne offering a warm welcome to Prince Harry and the upcoming Games. Following the ceremony, His Royal Highness took in a sledge hockey scrimmage played by the Canadian national sledge hockey team. It was a high-energy afternoon with more than 1,900 schoolkids in attendance, enthusiastically cheering on the athletes and VIPs on the ice. The day's special guests also included Toronto mayor John Tory, Free the Children co-founder Marc Kielburger, wounded Canadian veterans Jody Mitic and Dominic Laroque, Canadian singer Tyler Shaw, the 48th Highlanders of Canada, Invictus Games 2016 Team Canada members, and hosts Brian Williams, Cabbie Richards and Melissa Grelo.
