Science of Hockey

BaAM Productions in association with the Anaheim Ducks and the exhibits and education team at Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, CA created this 3,000 sq. ft. award-winning experience showcasing the exciting sport of hockey within the context of math and science.

BaAM developed interactive exhibits that take guests from the Locker Room to the Penalty Box, from training sessions to the Stanley Cup finals – and even to the Broadcast Booth, where guests can use Newton’s laws to call famous Ducks plays. The Anaheim Ducks organization provided unprecedented access to players, broadcast staff, archives, and video production resources. BaAM also worked with fabricators, media producers and interactive developers throughout North America to bring the experience to life.

“In many ways, the magic of hockey lies in the mastery of math and science that are so much a part of our game,” Gary Bettman, Commissioner of the NHL, stated at the spring 2009 opening. “We are delighted Discovery Science Center has used hockey to demonstrate science and math in an educational and entertaining way.”
