Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village

The World Cup of Hockey returned to Toronto in 2016 for a highly-anticipated international best-on-best tournament.  BaAM Productions collaborated with the NHL and NHLPA to develop a free 10-day fan village giving fans a place to experience the excitement of the World Cup front and center.

The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village spanned a total of 254,750 sq. ft., which was animated both day and night to reflect the multi-cultural and high-energy nature of the World Cup tournament. BaAM utilized dramatic lighting, environmental graphics, towering truss structures, and a 2-storey VIP Molson Canadian Hockey House to create the perfect destination for World Cup action.

Fans of all ages could join the masses for epic viewing parties and culturally diverse food and drink. The latest in technology, programmed entertainment and fan engagement could be found throughout the Village. Interactive activities included the SAP Skills Challenge, Molson Canadian Bubble Hockey, Rogers Fan Hub and Pepsi 360 Experience.  At the center of the Village, young fans could put their ball hockey skills to the test at the Scotiabank Sports Pad, a street hockey rink programmed with clinics that often included celebrity coaches joining in the fun.

The Fan Village hosted a star-studded lineup of guests, including NHL players, alumni, and celebrities with live musical performances from The Killers, Sam Roberts Band and Lenny Kravitz on the Pepsi Live Main Stage.  The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village extended the life of the tournament by giving fans a place to celebrate the sport before, during and after games.  The Village became a destination for Toronto residents and international visitors alike – where fans could engage with the NHL, broadcasting partners, and sponsors – in a unique and active setting.
