2012 MLB All-Star FanFest in Kansas City – It’s a wrap!

Kansas City baseball fans are passionate about the sport – and it certainly showed with increased attendance at the 22nd annual MLB All-Star FanFestAttendance jumped 7.5% from last year’s final tally in Phoenix and .6% since the 2010 FanFest event in Anaheim, CA.

Planning for the 2012 MLB All-Star FanFest started last summer.  Since that time, BaAM’s team of designers and project managers have been collaborating with MLB staff to ensure another fantastic fan event.  We worked alongside MLB’s All-Star Special Events team of Robert Field, Bernie Goon, and Michelle Cordero, led by Director Jackie Secaira-Cotto, to integrate sponsor activations and interactive components throughout the site plan and then execute every detail to create “baseball heaven on earth.”  In Kansas City, this meant 8 days from bare walls until the first family walked through the doors at Kansas City Convention Centre – Bartle Hall.

For 2012, BaAM revamped the Negro Leagues exhibits to add all new graphics in honour of Kansas City, home of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.  Part of the new exhibit included a tribute to baseball’s history with a photo opp featuring the Homestead Grays line-up, giving fans a chance to pose with players from the 1944 team.

The World’s Largest Baseball was officially authenticated in Kansas City, which means that an MLB official was present for the autograph signing and decorated the baseball with an identification sticker.  All signatures from 2012 and on will be officially authenticated and baseball fans will be able to look up the number listed on the identification sticker to find out which authenticated signatures have been added since 2012.

A special highlight for us this year was celebrating the success of the 22nd annual MLB All-Star FanFest with our first-ever wrap party baseball game.  Special congrats to BaAM Project Manager Louis for earning the MVP designation and winning an All-Star jersey signed by Hall of Famer George Brett and current Royals outfielder Alex Gordon.

Next stop: the Big Apple!
